Ever notice how the almond milk carton you get from the supermarket has an expiration date of 6 months or more? We do! One thing we really want you to do is to check the labels, start looking at what you are building your body with, is it a bunch of numbers?
We love almond milk that you can make a lovely chai latte, smoothie or dessert with it. Without those preservatives, homemade almond milk doesn’t last that long; but we’re glad, as it helps keep us check in with how we organize our meals for the week and to make sure we are not wasting a good thing.
I this video Bo shows us how simple it is to make almond milk (or you can actually use any kind of nut you want)! The process and love that goes into making your own is a great way for you to appreciate it more and connect with your food. Too often these days everything is readily bought and we just don’t stop to think, what’s in this? How has it been made?
Yes it takes more time and effort, but in the long run you benefit by being healthier to enjoy more quality time on this beautiful planet of ours and effort is attractive!
Why is nut milk better?
If you suffer from a lactose intolerance, looking to move towards a more plant-based diet or like us enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, then its a great alternative to cows milk. Nut milk is heart-healthy, low-calorie and nutrient-dense. If you get organic nut’s in bulk it saves you money and you can flavor the milk however you like.
It has a light silky texture and goes well in anything. It’s perfect when traveling or camping when there are no stores to be found. One thing to be aware of like any food or drink you consume is to have everything in moderation. You want what you consume to be a pallet of colors from nature, because if we are eating foods that are nutrient rich it will help us build lives that are full of vibrancy too! Happy nut milk making 🙂
